Day 30

Mom:

I'm grateful for time.  The luxury of time to be able to finish my November book club book.  I'm looking forward to my December book and finding time to dig into all the other good books I've got queued up to read.

Julie:

I'm grateful for this month of gratitude and the feeling of fullness in my heart.  The time on the phone with Mom and the family talking about all we are grateful for each day has been so uplifting and inspiring. I hope I can hang on to this daily practice of gratitude and all the feelings it brings.

Day 29

Mom:

I'm grateful for the perfect Jacksonville weather.  Temps in the mid-70's and sunny skies.  It makes me happy.

Julie:

I'm grateful for Chad at Charter Cable who with kindness, persistence and perseverance figured out how to get the Griz playoff games added to our cable account.  Other friends in town who tried the same thing had customer service staff who said it couldn't be done.  Even the newspaper and the TV channels said it couldn't be done.  But Chad saved the day!  Now we can watch the rest of FCS playoffs in the warm comfort of our living room.  A big thank you to Chad.  And here's what Dr. Seuss would say to Chad. . .

Day 28

Mom:

I'm grateful for leftovers.

Julie:

I'm grateful for a techie husband.  He was watching out for me and found an online deal on my iPad.  It will be here in 10 days.  Whoo Hoo!!

Allan:

I'm grateful that Black Friday happened WITHOUT ME!

Day 27

Mom:

I'm thankful for turkey.  It sure was good!  And good or bad, messy or tidy, big or small, I'm thankful for the time with family.

(Had fun getting updates from John throughout the day)

(Gravy and sweet potatoes look great Mom!)

Julie:

I'm thankful for my neighbor family.  The time with them is always festive and fun.

Allan:

Given the weather and flight delays all over the country this week, I'm grateful I'm not travelling on Thanksgiving and as always thankful for sharing time, great food and wine with my neighbor family.

[As we went around the table sharing what we each were thankful for, most said family, friends, and good health.  But when it was Barb's turn here's what she had to say. . . ]

Barb:

I'm grateful I'm not in the obituaries today!  [ Silly Barb! :-) ]

Day 26

Mom:

I'm grateful for John and his "take charge" spirit.  Dad's been under the weather for a few days struggling with a painful hip and getting up and down.  John took charge and went with Dad to the doctor and then moved the 2nd lift recliner into the living room so Dad could safely get up and down. Don't know what we'd do without him.

Dad:

I'm grateful for Frosted Flakes for dinner.  Teeth are feeling better even if the hip ain't feeling so good.

Julie:

I'm grateful for Pandora.  It's the day before the holiday and the student's are gone.  Campus is quiet, the office is quiet but the playlist on Pandora is great company.

Day 25

Mom:

I'm grateful for Thanksgiving planning.  It's fun to talk to John and Julie, who are cooking this year, and teaching them how to get a holiday dinner on the table.  My mother always told me. . ."the hardest part of cooking a big meal is planning how to get everything on the table at the same time and make sure the hot things are hot and the cold things are cold".

Julie:

I'm grateful for my mental health day.  It's just what I needed to recharge the batteries!  Nagging headache and grouchy mood were indicators I needed a break and some quiet time.  Rainy, snowy day at home with Allan.  I played quietly all day in the craft room and he spent the day hunting for more dead people.  I feel better now  ;-)

Day 24

Mom:

I'm grateful I don't have to go to work on Monday mornings anymore.  I remember what it felt like on Sunday nights and Monday mornings - feeling like the weekend was never long enough.  It's great to wake up on Monday mornings now with nary a work obligation to think about.

Julie:

I'm grateful for my new Silhouette, a new toy for the craftroom.
